Found these drapes quite littered and don't inform much design other then a focus soon ruffles as a major technical feature in my final piece - the luxury that comes with the stereotype of ruffles is something I wanted to push in this project

FABRIC AND DETAIL RESEARCH

Wanted details of jobs and fastenings to be delicate and lower the weight of the rough outer fabric - felt strings of flowers were too obvious and were more romantic then the concept I was trying to promote which is much bolder

TOILE

Really pleased with the successful of my toile - defiantly want to stick to the colour schemes - was going to use canvas in my find piece due to the strength and structure of the fabric but feels the pieces really does look like a toile - need to go to fabric shops and look for a rough textured fabric to contrast with the inner ruffles - need thicker and more ruffles indside the leg so no canvas shows through

Fabric samples and textiles experiments - turning the organic into unnatural and man made as wax print fabric is so organic as is my project I wanted to see the effect that this has for a final garnet.

Not actually that into fabric manipulation and like the empathises on organic in my project as it links to sustainability which is a very important focus on my project about the blooming off rwanda

The focus for me in this exhibition was to concentrate on the dress of the women and the power that they evoked because of this. Although in this century it almost defiantly was for the man I like how this idea as involved as over indulgent feminity in clothes can create strength through expression. I would like the shapes and silloheutte and the grandness of the paintings to link to Rwanda giving the term wealth and rich a different context - something of substance rather then money

PROCESS FINAL

The process of making four separate garments was long and tricky - my designs mainly stayed the same over the process of making it was really details that changed - like fabric choices and details. I wanted to include gingham in my final piece but as it is a busy pattern it couldn't distract from the ruffles. I blend it with white hessian to blot out the main extracts of colour in mini ruffles. I thought after making my toile that boning wasn't as important to the structure as I thought. I initially make my final pair of trousers without it but it was key to form the curled in part of the trouser and make it secure and sturdy enough to hold up against the heavy ruffles.
